A deputy sheriff in El Paso County was arrested on several felony drug charges Tuesday, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office announced.

Steven D'Agostino, 34, a five-year veteran of the force was arrested the day before his 35th birthday on charges of introducing contraband in the first degree, unlawful possession of a schedule II drug with intent to distribute, and one count of official misconduct, the Sheriff's Office said.

D'Agostino was assigned to floor security at the Criminal Justice Center Jail and has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending termination, law enforcement said.

The Sheriff's Office said once the booking process is over, a mugshot will be released of him.
