Denver Business Journal — A Golden doctor was arrested Thursday for reportedly selling oxycodone prescriptions and bilking insurance companies.

John Van Wu, 48, operated medical clinics in Lakewood and Denver between January 2011 and March 2015 when he allegedly billed employee benefit programs and insurers for treatments that weren't provided nor medically needed, according to the government.

"The defendant billed insurance programs for expensive, time-consuming office visits when his patients had relatively routine ailments. He also billed those programs for injections that he did not actually perform. The defendant also claimed to have provided office visits to patients who were outside of the country on the day the visits purportedly took place," according to the government's statement.

Wu also allegedly sold oxycodone prescriptions for cash.
