GREELEY, Colo. — A Greeley man faces up to 48 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing his grandfather's friend.

Aaron Hoult, 24, entered a guilty plea Wednesday to one count of murder in the second degree for killing Jose Pacheco, according to a release from the Weld County District Attorney's Office

Prosecutors say firefighters were called out on a report of a fire in the detached garage where Pacheco lived, at a home on 11th Street, in August 2017. When they arrived, they found Pacheco's body. It appeared that he had been stabbed to death.

Hoult was originally charged with first degree murder and first degree arson. In exchange for his guilty plea, those charges were dropped.

Sentencing is set for June 5. As part of the plea agreement, Hoult faces 30 to 48 years in prison.
