AURORA – A man faces charges for first-degree burglary and criminal mischief after police say he broke into an Aurora officer’s home, tried on her uniform, fed her dog, took a bath alongside her gun and ate food from the refrigerator.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Aurora Police Department, the officer found H. Lee Cross walking out of the bathroom inside her home the afternoon of June 19 and held him at gunpoint until help arrived.

At one point, the 45-year-old complimented the officer about the gun she kept in her purse and while he was taken into custody, said he “kept the firearm with him in while he was in the bathtub for protection,” according to the affidavit.

The affidavit said Cross also told Aurora police that he took pictures from the officer’s garage and brought them inside.

While Cross told officers that he was “at his sister’s residence,” according to the affidavit, the victim did not know him. The frame of the officer's exterior window screen had been pried open and was damaged.

Cross was booked into the Aurora City Jail on a $50,000 bond shortly after police said the incident occurred.

According to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records, he does not have a prior criminal history in Colorado.
