DENVER — A man has been arrested after a toddler was taken to Children's Hospital Colorado with "extensive injuries to his body," an arrest affidavit from Denver Police says.

Damien Walker, 35, was charged with one count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, the Denver District Attorney said.

Walker appeared in court Friday and his bond was set at $50,000.

According to the affidavit, just after 3 p.m. on July 8, officers got a report about a child having a seizure in an apartment near East Albrook Drive and North Tulsa Court.

Responding officers noticed the boy had injuries to his left ear and the child was taken to the hospital. Once at the hospital, it was determined the boy had "extensive injuries," the affidavit says.

A woman contacted by police said she was at work when she got a call from Walker saying the boy had a seizure.

Walker admitted to police that he was the only one in the apartment with the boy, but continued to tell investigators the boy had a seizure, according to the affidavit.

When told that a detective wanted to speak more with him about the incident, Walker stated he did not want to talk to the responding officers, the affidavit says.

He appeared in court on Friday where a judge set his bond at $50,000.
