A former teacher at Denver Center for International Studies was charged with sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust on Feb. 10.

According to the Denver District Attorney, Islam Ibn Shabazz allegedly sexually assaulted an elementary-school-aged boy whom he knew as a family acquaintance at least twice. The boy was not a student.

Shabazz was released on a $50,000 bond and is due in court on March 17 for a preliminary hearing.
