Man arrested in eastern Colorado after woman fatally shot

A 63-year-old man was arrested in connection to the homicide.

FLAGLER, Colo. — A man has been arrested in connection to a homicide Monday in southeastern Colorado, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Just before 8 p.m. on Monday, deputies with the Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office (KCCSO) were called to a home in the 600 block of Navajo Avenue in Flagler, where a woman was found shot to death. The victim was later identified as 42-year-old Mary Schaefer, according to the CBI.

Micahel Crowe, 63, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree murder and taken to the Kit Carson Detention Facility where he is being held without bond, CBI said.

No other information surrounding the shooting has been released. The investigation is ongoing with the KCCSO, CBI and the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

Flager is located about two hours southeast of Denver on the Eastern Plains.
