Man killed in Aurora shooting Monday

The shooting took place in the area of East 16th Avenue and North Alton Street, Aurora Police Department said.

AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Police Department (APD) is investigating the death of a man after a shooting on Monday.

Denver Police Department (DPD) said around 5 p.m. that officers responded to a shooting in an alley between 1600 blocks of Willow and Xanthia streets and found a man who was pronounced dead due to an apparent gunshot wound.

DPD investigators determined that the shooting happened in the area of East 16th Avenue and North Alton Street, and the case was handed over APD because that is its jurisdiction.

APD did not release any additional details on the circumstances surrounding the shooter or possible suspect information.

The victim will be identified by the Adams County Coroner's Office.
