Arrest made after man killed at Adams County motel

The shooting happened just before 3:30 p.m. at the Venture Inn motel at 7333 Pecos Street on March 15.

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — Deputies arrested an Aurora man in connection with the shooting death of another man at an Adams County motel, the Adams County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said the shooting happened at about 3:30 p.m. on March 15 at the Venture Inn motel at 7333 Pecos Street, which is near the Highway 36 interchange. 

Deputies found the man dead in the doorway of a room, the sheriff's office said. Deputies said the man had been shot in his torso.

The victim's name has not yet been released. 

On March 18, Adams County deputies along with the RAVEN Task Force and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force arrested 31-year-old Hayden Banks. Banks was taken into custody at the Valli Hi Motel located at 7320 Pecos Street, deputies said. 

Banks is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
