Man killed during SWAT standoff in El Paso County

No law enforcement officers were hurt during the Saturday standoff.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — A man was killed during a SWAT standoff in El Paso County Saturday afternoon, law enforcement said.

According to a release from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, members of their SWAT (called Tactical Enforcement Unit) were called out to assist the Colorado Springs Police Department with a barricaded subject.

Tactical team members arrived at the home in the 4200 block of Forest Hill Road around 5:30.

"During the incident, multiple shots were fired," the release says. "The male party succumbed to his injuries on scene."

No other information was provided on the altercation that led to this man's death.

No officers were injured.

The Sheriff's Office said they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.

The man is not being identified at this time until the next of kin is notified and the coroner makes a positive identification, the Sheriff's Office said.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will be the lead agency investigating the shooting and said they will release more information as they can.
