Police are investigating an offer-involved shooting that left a male suspect dead Thursday afternoon.

The shooting happened at about 4:30 p.m. near the Guitar Center in the 8600 block of Sheridan Boulevard.

Officers were attempting to arrest a suspect with multiple felony warrants who was near his car in the parking lot.

Police say the man fought with officers, and during the altercation was able to turn his car on.

As the man began driving away, he ran over an officer then dragged him with the car.

Several officers then fired shots at the suspect who was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The officer was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Investigations Team will conduct an investigation into the shooting.
