The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man with multiple driving-related felony warrants who they believe was behind the wheel of a yellow Corvette that reached almost 150 mph as it sped down U.S. 36 between Lyons and Boulder the afternoon of Dec. 20.
That vehicle nearly caused multiple head-on collisions on the busy stretch of highway – including one with a deputy – as it swerved across the yellow line, according to a news release from the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect’s vehicle was later found in a parking garage near Folsom Street and Iris Avenue in Boulder and impounded by police.
The suspect has since been identified as 51-year-old Sean Alexander Maloney. According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, his birthday is on Dec. 20 -- the same day of the alleged incident.
Maloney is now wanted on a warrant for the following charges:
- Vehicular Homicide - Criminal Attempt (F5)
- Vehicular Eluding (F5)
- Reckless Endangerment (M3)
- Aggravated Driving After Revocation (M1)
- Theft of License Plates (M1)
- Displayed Fictitious Plates (MT2)
- Reckless Driving (MT2)
- Disregard Traffic Control Devices (TO)
Anyone who was driving on U.S. 36 at the time of the crash and was nearly hit head-on is asked to call the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office at 303-441-3375.
