Pickup crashes into house in Aurora

Aurora police said speed and alcohol played a role in the 5 a.m. crash on North Akron Street.

AURORA, Colo. — A vehicle crashed into a home in the 1700 block of North Akron Street in Aurora early Sunday morning.

The house's structure was compromised because of the crash, according to the Aurora Police Department. Aurora Fire Rescue's technical rescue team shored up the structure, and the family who lives there is planning to stay in the home Sunday night.

They said that most of the damage was in the kitchen and living room.

No one in the house was injured, Aurora police said. The Red Cross provided assistance to the residents.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to Aurora police.

The driver was cited for reckless driving and DUI. Speed and alcohol played a role in the crash, police said. The driver's name and photo are not being released at this time.
