LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The Lakewood Police Department released a sketch Thursday of a man two boys said tried to kidnap them while they were sitting on a lawn.

The incident happened between 5:48 p.m. and 5:56 p.m. on May 15, according to a news release from the Lakewood Police Department. The victims, identified as two 11-year-old boys, were sitting on a lawn outside of the Holiday Gardens Apartments at 1301 Pierce St. when they said two men pulled up in a white van.

One of them – the man depicted in the sketch – slid the door open and tried to grab the boys, the release says. One of the victims threw a water bottle at the man’s head and hit him, and they were both able to run away, according to police.

Police said the boys described the suspects as “looking like twins.” One was driving the van and the other was in the back. The men are described as Hispanic and in their early 20s with dark, curly hair.

According to the news release, the van is described as having scratches on the side and a door that slides open. It had a darker tint on the windows and bars on the inside of the windows on the back of the van.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the Lakewood Tip Hotline at 303-763-6800.
