Rape suspect one of 3 detainees on the run after escaping from Aurora ICE facility

Amilcar Aguilar-Hernandez, 33, Douglas Amaya-Arriago, 18, and Carlos Perez-Rodriguez, 18, are on the run after escaping from the Aurora ICE facility.

AURORA, Colo. — A search is underway for three men who escaped from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Aurora more than 24 hours ago.

One of those suspects, 33-year-old El Salvador man Amilcar Aguilar-Hernandez, is the suspect in a rape case in Fort Carson, according to a news release from ICE.

The other two escaped inmates, both from Honduras, were identified as 18-year-old Douglas Amaya-Arriaga and 18-year-old Carlos Perez-Rodriguez. Neither of those men have a prior criminal history, but are now wanted on federal escape warrants, ICE said.

The three men escaped the facility just after noon on Sunday, the release says. ICE believes they scaled a 15-foot chain fence and then were able to climb a wall in the recreation area.

The ICE facility is located at 3130 Oakland St. in Aurora – south of Peoria Street and Smith Road.

This same facility made the news earlier this year after 291 people were placed in quarantine following a chickenpox and mumps outbreak.
