Angela Wilson hands out purple ribbons at the Town Hall of Frederick to honor murder victims Shanann Watts and her two young daughters, Celeste and Bella.

FREDERICK — Inside the Frederick Town Hall, people can find Angela Wilson and a gesture in the name of murder victims Shanann Watts and her two young daughters Bella and Celeste.

"Giving these purple ribbons to anybody that wants to come in," Wilson said. "Simple way to show support and just being able to say, we care."

Wilson is the events coordinator for the Town of Frederick. She is happy to help distribute these ribbons to people like Naike St. Clair.

"I think I'm going to put one on my car and at my house and probably give one to my best friend," St. Clair said. "The story really kind of impacted me as a mother. I actually took Shanann's pictures when she was pregnant with Celeste."

The town also put up purple ribbons around downtown on streetlamps and in places around the Watts' neighborhood where Heidi Lippert lives.

"This is amazing," Lippert said. "I actually heard about it on Facebook and started crying right away. I thought it was a really touching thing to do."

A touching thing done in Shanann's favorite color purple, according to Wilson.

"Well, that makes it even more special to make it her favorite color," Lippert said.

More than 400 handmade ribbons were put together by employees at the town hall.

"Just made sure they were cut nice and just simply burn the edges so they don't fray," Wilson said.

St. Clair calls this a gesture for the victims.

"Shanann was a pretty awesome person," St. Clair said.

Wilson calls it a gesture for the town of Frederick, as well.

"We are just always thinking about what can we do for the community to help them heal and also for us to heal as well," Wilson said.

The funeral for Shanann Watts, Celeste Watts, Bella Watts, and for unborn son Nico Watts will be held in North Carolina at 11 a.m. Colorado time on Saturday. The funeral will be live streamed to the public. You can find it Saturday morning here at 9News.com.
