AURORA — Sheriff's deputies say a suspect in a sexual assault in El Paso County is dead after taking his own life in Aurora.

According to a release from the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to the Walmart in Falcon Wednesday afternoon on a report of a kidnapping and sexual assault.

Deputies say while the reported victim was putting a shopping cart back after unloading her groceries, the suspect got into the back seat of her vehicle. When she returned, he held her at gunpoint and told her to drive.

The suspect directed the woman to another location, where he sexually assaulted her. After that, he forced her to drive back to the Walmart and made her park behind the store. He then went back to his own vehicle.

Deputies say it's possible the suspect had tried to do the same thing to another woman that day.

Investigators located the suspect in Aurora, in the 1200 block of South Zeno Circle, Friday. At around 9 o'clock that night, El Paso County deputies and Aurora Police SWAT went out to that location, where he took his life.

The suspect's name and cause of death have not been released.
