Man arrested after shots were fired during argument over dog poop

The victim said the suspect shot at him after they argued over picking up dog poop, according to the sheriff's office.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A man who investigators said fired a gun at another man after the two got into an argument over picking up dog poop has been arrested, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

Jonathan Emile Dismel, 38, was arrested around 5 p.m. on Thursday after a warrant was served at his apartment at 8828 E. Florida Ave. He had a gun with him when he was arrested, the sheriff's office said.

On Wednesday, Dismel and another man were walking their dogs near South Parker Road and East Florida Avenue around 10 p.m. when they began arguing about picking up after their dogs and it’s believed Dismel fired a handgun, the sheriff's office said.

No one was hurt in the shooting, however residents in the area were initially told to shelter in place as deputies searched for possible suspects.

About an hour later, the searched was called off and a shelter order was lifted.
