Police looking for SUV after individuals shoot at officer

Denver Police said unknown individuals in a black SUV fired gunshots at an officer early Sunday morning in the area of West Jewell Avenue and South Zuni Street.

DENVER — Denver Police Department is seeking more information after individuals shot at an officer early Sunday morning.

Police said unknown individuals fired gunshots at an officer at 3:11 a.m. in the area of West Jewell Avenue and South Zuni Street.

The individuals then drove north on South Zuni Street in a vehicle described as a late model mid-sized black SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon, with dark-tined windows and fender flares, according to police.

No additional suspect information was released.

Anyone with information is asked to asked to contact police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
