ADAMS COUNTY, Colorado — The Adams County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting and assault that occurred outside a motel in north Denver on Sunday.
Shortly before 10 p.m., deputies responded to the Valli-Hi Motel at 7320 Pecos Street on a reported shooting. When they arrived on scene, deputies found two victims - one suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso and one who had been assaulted, the sheriff's office said.
Both of the victims were taken to Denver Health Medical Center. The severity of their injuries is unknown at this time.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery. Witnesses saw two men fleeing the scene following the shooting. The sheriff's office has not provided descriptions of them.
