DENVER — The teen accused of killing her 7-year-old nephew, then hiding his body in her room appeared in Denver District Court for an advisement hearing on Friday morning.
Jennie Bunsom, 16, was taken into custody on August 8 in relation to the death of Jordan Vong whose body was found concealed inside a Montbello home the two lived in with Jordan’s mother.
Bunsom is being charged as an adult with one count of murder in the first-degree after deliberation and one count of child abuse resulting in death.
According to a probable cause statement, Bunsom became upset with Jordan when he asked her to play video games. She eventually wrapped his body in a blanket and placed him in one of the two portable closets in her room, according to the statement.
Police searched the house twice -- the first time was without a search warrant, and they did not find the boy. The next day, detectives returned to the home on Fairplay Street and found Vong's body in the closet at about 9 p.m.
Bunsom’s next hearing is scheduled for January 28, 2019.
