FORT COLLINS COLORADOAN — A 16-year-old boy died from his injuries following an a shooting on July 4 in north Fort Collins, according to Fort Collins police. Another 16-year-old boy was identified by police as the suspect in the shooting.

Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 Block of Merganser Drive in the Bull Run Townhomes complex, later continuing the investigation as a homicide.

According to Fort Collins police, the suspect and the victim knew each other, though police did not provide additional information about a motive or circumstances.

The suspect is in custody for an unrelated issue, police said.

The victim later died of his injuries, according to police. The Larimer County Coroner’s office will release the identity as well as the manner of death of the victim at a later date.
