A man who allegedly robbed five banks in the Denver area was taken into custody by Denver Police Monday.

Shawn Scott, 39, who was wanted on three counts of armed robbery and failure to appear for possession of a weapon by a previous offender, was found at 6th Avenue and Osage Street in Denver.

In addition to the previous charges, Scott is being held for investigation of attempted murder, attempted murder of a police officer, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and investigation of two additional armed robberies.

According to police, on Aug. 23 around 11 a.m., Scott entered the TCF Bank, located at 2084 South Broadway in Denver, and robbed it by use of a robbery/demand note. He fled the area on foot.

In several robberies, he was seen in a black wig and a baseball cap.

Scott was also identified as having committed the following robberies:

  • May 25 at the US Bank on 1248 South Broadway
  • June 14 at the Key Bank on 2776 North Speer Boulevard
  • June 20 at the US Bank on 3400 West 38th Avenue
  • June 29 at the Vectra Band on 401 East Speer Boulevard.
