The Jefferson Project is a series that will chronicle four students and the principal of Jefferson High School in the rapidly-gentrifying Edgewater.

9NEWS is following the personal stories of four seniors from the first day of school through graduation at Jefferson Jr/Sr High School – a struggling yet transforming school in Edgewater. 

Introduction: This is the introduction of our characters - seniors Jayline, Mason, Joseph and Ariadna. We also meet Principal Michael James, who has been in charge at Jefferson for six years. His background in education spans more than two decades. He's worked as an educator in Colorado for 22 years.

Changing a culture: This installment focuses on the difficulties of trying to change a culture at a struggling school in a neighborhood that's in the midst of rapid gentrification. 

A Jefferson Project Christmas special: In this installment, we take a look at one way the school is keeping parents involved during the holidays at Jefferson Jr/Sr High School. 

The ability to adaptThis continues the story of our four students and looks at the ability of students, staff and the school itself to adapt to meet issues and problems head on.

Preparing for graduation: It is now May and students at Jefferson Junior/Senior High are getting ready for graduation. As they prepare for the big moment, one student is not sure he is going to make it after all.

Senior Traditions: It's senior week, and that means tradition and celebration. Students at Jefferson Junior/Senior High are thinking about their futures after school — and how far they've come.

Cap and gown walk: Each year, the graduating class at Jefferson Junior/Senior High School dress in cap and gown and go to all three schools that feed into Jefferson to inspire a younger generation.

Graduation day: The last 9 months of The Jefferson Project series all culminate with graduation day.
