Funeral for Justyn Rosen, murder investigation continues

DENVER - Services were held Tuesday for a prominent local businessman who was shot to death by a woman near City Park Friday. The woman, Teresa Perez, was then shot and killed by police.

Rosen, 79, had filed a restraining order against Perez a day before the shooting. In court papers reviewed by the Denver Post, he said that Perez was stalking him, making repeated abusive phone calls and demanding money.

In the eulogy, Rabbi Steven Foster called Rosen a quiet, gentle, loyal man. He said Rosen made the community a better place, and people should remember him for his life's "highest moments."

Rosen was the former owner of Rosen-Novak Motors. Perez, 40, was a former employee.

The exact relationship between the two remains unclear. According to the court records, Rosen said that Perez delivered a packet of information to his wife of 60 years and threatened to also contact his children unless he continued providing her money.

The Post also reports that in 1990, a judge presiding over Perez' divorce found that the woman had a below average IQ, blamed others for her problems, harbored considerable anger and often resorted to pathological lying. At the time, Perez was married to Denver construction and real estate owner Vincent Reiger, who was 41 years her senior.

Perez's marriage to Mario Perez also ended in divorce. He told the court that his wife was trying to bankrupt him.

The Post reports that Perez was married three times in little over a 10-year period.
