KUSA - Candy can sometime mimic the color and shape of common medication.

If you can't tell the difference, chances are your kids can't either. This could be the reason unintentional drug poisonings are on the rise among kids.

According to a study in the Journal Pediatrics, visits for pediatric pharmaceutical poisonings were up 30 percent between 2001 and 2008.

Sarah Anderson, an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy, was in the 9NEWS studio Sunday morning to talk about ways to protect your children.
