FRISCO, Colo — Like so many businesses The Sunny Side Up Studio in Frisco is closed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 which first showed up in Colorado in early March.
It and all other non-essential businesses were forced closed due to a statewide stay-at-home public health order from Gov. Jared Polis. So far in Colorado, more than 3,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19, which is the disease caused by the novel coronavirus which first surfaced in China in later 2019.
Owner Ash Weisel has been selling sweatshirts online, not only bringing money into her store but creating a big social movement with hundreds of women around the county.
She’s been selling Mountain Mama Sweatshirts online and cut the price, hoping that she'd sell a few to keep her store afloat. She ended up selling 200 of them to women all over the country who are stuck indoors and looking for something cozy and comfortable to hang out in.
"A lot of people are calling it their quarantine uniform," said Weisel. "The demand is so high we have had people all over the nation say they want them.”
Weisel is ordering more shirts to keep up with the demand while many of the women who bought those first 200 sweatshirts took pictures in them and had those pictures edited into one picture as a way to bond together in tough times.
“Everyone just flocked to them,” said Weisel. “it really became a symbol of hope and unity in our little mountain town.”
Weisel is selling other things on her website and that’s where you can find the sweatshirts which are going for $35.
