New website provides opportunities to help Non-profits in Colorado

It's a chance for people to give back to their communities during this difficult time

DENVER — GroundFloor Media, a public relations firm in Denver, wanted to match people who have some extra time right now, with non-profits in Colorado that are really hurting to meet the community need amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The organizations have lost resources and volunteers because of the COVID-19 situation in Colorado, according to Laura Love, founder of GroundFloor Media.

"Most aren't able to do their annual fundraisers," she said. "So we thought we should create a resource page for all the smaller non-profits statewide that need volunteers or donations. It sorta took off overnight."

Thousands of people in Colorado are out of work in Colorado due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The first case was reported in our state on March 5 and since then the number of cases has continued to grow.

A state-wide stay-at-home order was issued in an effort to slow its spread. That order shut down non-essential businesses across the state.

When you visit the GroundFloor Media webpage you will see a list of non-profits and what they're looking for, whether it's volunteers, donations or something else.

They include an equestrian rescue ranch, food banks, and organizations that help foster families. One non-profit helps teen moms, it's looking for volunteers to read stories virtually to moms and kids.

Food Bank of the Rockies needs volunteers to help stock shelves. All of the organizations looking for volunteers spell out the criteria that needs to be met and how people can volunteer their time safely while social distancing.

If you are with a non-profit that needs help, Laura said you can email her and they'll add them to the webpage. Her email is llove@groundfloormedia.com.
