Robins Air Force Base announces third confirmed case of COVID-19

The base has been updating the public on Facebook as each case is confirmed.

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — Robins Air Force Base announced Wednesday on their Facebook page another confirmed case of COVID-19.

This brings their official total up to three.

The two previous patients live in Henry and Houston Counties, and this latest patient lives on the base itself, according to the Facebook post.

Robins' Public Affairs Office says the base is now under Health Protection Condition: Charlie. This means these measures are now in place:

• Social distancing and refrain from physical contact such as hand shaking
• Discontinue all large gatherings through May 11, unless they are mission-essential
• Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, wipe commonly-use items with disinfectant, cover mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing
• Stay home if you are sick
• Get a flu shot to protect yourself and others from flu, which has similar symptoms to COVID-19
• On-base child care facilities will remain open at this time
• Follow State Department and Geographic Combatant Command guidance in regards to travel restrictions.
• If you develop flu-like symptoms with a fever and cough or shortness of breath and may have had contact with a person who has COVID-19 or had recent travel to countries considered high-risk, call your healthcare provider before seeking medical care

The Public Affairs Office says some of these measures were already in practice.

"We are working with our local officials to ensure the safety and security of Airmen, family and community members. We continue to address all medical concerns as they arise and work with our local health professionals to keep you informed as the situation develops," the base said in a press release Wednesday.

The release says if you are exhibiting symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to coronavirus to call the TRICARE nurse advice line at 1-800-874-2273 or the 78MDG appointment line at 478-327-7850 prior to the visit, if you are normally seen at Robins 78th Medical Group

Robins' confirmed cases are not included in the Houston County count in the state report from the Georgia Department of Health.
