BLAME EPISODE 5: I'M CALLING ABOUT THE JILL WELLS CASE - On the day that Jill Wells was killed, four men were responsible for figuring out what happened.
Sheriff LeRoy Yowell. Undersheriff Alan Yowell. Coroner Don Bender. And District Attorney William Sylvester.
It was their job to determine how the mother of two died. Who was responsible. Whether a crime was committed, or further investigation was needed.
At the scene, they accepted Mike Wells’ version of events – that his 6-year-old son, Tanner, accidentally fired the fatal shot – with little critical questioning.
What do these men remember about that day 15 years ago? Why didn’t they ask more questions? Did they have suspicions about the story told by Mike Wells? Do they today? Whose decision was it to accept the assertion that Tanner was to blame?
Come along as 9Wants To Know goes looking for answers, asking questions of the men whose job it was to ask questions on March 28, 2001.
