A 19-year-old man is missing near the Gore Canyon on the Colorado River.
A man called the Grand County Sheriff's Office on Thursday at 6:44 a.m. saying he was rafting with a friend and they had stopped to camp near the Applesauce/Fisherman's Nightmare Rapids on the Colorado River.
The caller said he left the camp around midnight to look for firewood and his friend was not there when he returned.
He searched the area overnight and called for help Thursday.
The Grand County Sheriff's Office and Grand County Search and Rescue have conducted an extensive ground search of the area.
A helicopter was also brought in for an aerial search and rafters in the area helped search near the river bank.
After nearly eight hours, the focus shifted to include a water search near the campsite. The area is extremely remote and not accessible by vehicle.
The search resumed Friday at 7:30 a.m. after ending at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Crews are focusing on the Colorado River and water rescue resources are being brought in.
About 50 members of the Grand County Sheriff's Office, Grand County Search and Rescue, Summit County Search and Rescue, Summit County Water Rescue, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Vail Mountain Rescue and the Bureau of Land Management are helping with the search.
