A small 71-year-old Denver credit union is joining forces with one of the top 10 Denver credit unions by assets in an effort to provide more services for its customers.

Members of West Denver Community Credit Union, which has 1,668 members, approved a merger with Denver Community Credit Union – which had $281 million in assets at the close of 2015. The deal was finalized this month.

“We welcome the 1,668 members of West Denver Community Credit Union,” said Tessa Bonfante, COO of Denver Community Credit Union. “We look forward to providing additional services to them, and to help grow membership for others who will benefit from credit union membership.”

West Denver Community Credit Union was established in 1946 by the parishioners of Presentation of Our Lady Parish, a church in Denver. In 1986, the credit union moved to its current location to 3299 W. Alameda Ave. In 1996, it updated its charter to serve additional communities west of Denver.
