PARK COUNTY, Colorado — Two teenage girls who ran away from a therapeutic foster care home where they were receiving treatment for significant mental health issues have been found safe, the Park County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Before that, the 16-year-old girls were last seen in the area of Mount Evans Boulevard in Pine Junction around 10 p.m. on July 7, the sheriff's office said.
They are not related but were staying together at the foster home for treatment of significant mental health issues.
The Park County Sheriff's Office said the girls are safe but did not share any information about where or how they were found.
Both the juveniles were physically unharmed. The girls indicated that they had escaped out of a window of the home in Bailey where they had been originally staying, walked through the woods to Highway 285 and caught a ride to the Denver area, the sheriff's office said.
