5 people taken into custody after standoff at Westminster home

Five people are in custody after a standoff at a home in Westminster Monday morning, deputies said.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — Five people are in custody Monday morning after an incident with police at a home in Westminster.

According to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, three schools were put on lockout during the incident in the 8800 block of Lowell Boulevard. The schools were: Shaw Heights Middle School, Mesa Elementary School and John F. Flynn A Marzano Academy. 

Those lockouts have been lifted, according to a spokesperson for Westminster Public Schools.

Adams County Sheriff's Office investigators are remaining at the home on Lowell Boulevard and continue to investigate.

The intersection of West 88th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard was shut down for a short time during the standoff, the Sheriff's Office said. Those roads have since reopened.
