Subject of Amber Alert and suspect were spotted around Utah without clothes

The man found with the subject of a Colorado Amber Alert was taken into custody after someone reported the pair was walking around southwest Utah without clothes, according to the arresting agency.

David Glenn Freeman, 60, was arrested on Monday in Garfield County, Utah. According to the local sheriff's office, he was with a 12-year-old boy who had been reported missing from Crestone, Colorado the day before.

According to a release from the Garfield County Sheriff's Office in Utah, a person camping called deputies around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday to report they had been approached by two people who had no clothes on asking for water.

The pair later came back asking for food.

Deputies responded to the call, but did not speak with those people.

The next morning around 9:40, dispatch got another call about two people walking down the road near Mammoth Creek, Utah with no clothes on.

Deputies found the pair, later determined to be the subject of the Amber Alert and Freeman, and took Freeman into custody. The boy was taken the hospital to be evaluated.

Freeman faces charges of first-degree felony kidnapping and lewdness.

Investigators believe Freeman and the juvenile know each other, but aren't related.

The Amber Alert announcing the 12-year-old's disappearance was issued late Sunday, after investigators determined he was in danger.

Many people told 9NEWS they either received the alert multiple times or not at all. CBI tweeted out the same thing.

"We've been notified some people did not receive the cell phone alert for Sunday night's Amber Alert. We are working with FEMA to address this issue," CBI tweeted.

Next spoke with CBI about what the issue could have been. They think some people didn't receive it because of a formatting error on their end with the text.
