ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Aspen Skiing Co. plans to build a $15 million affordable-housing complex in the western Colorado town of Basalt.

The Aspen Times reported Friday the complex would have 36 units and a total of 148 bedrooms. Some of the units would be reserved for workers in Basalt, where the company has about 80 employees.

Basalt is about 19 miles northwest of Aspen.

Aspen Skiing Co. owns four resorts in the Aspen area: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass.

The company estimates it has about 700 beds in its worker housing inventory and expects it will need more as new, younger workers replace older ones who retire.

The company submitted an application for the project to Basalt officials on Thursday. It hopes to build in 2019 and 2020
