KUSA — A charter school in Aurora was evacuated Monday afternoon due to a bomb threat, according to a tweet from the Aurora Police Department.

The Lotus School for Excellence at 11001 E. Alameda Ave. was evacuated the same day that a 13-year-old was taken into custody for what police initially said was a bomb threat at Shadow Ridge Middle School in Thornton.

Aurora police said numerous officers were called to the scene at the Lotus School for Excellence Monday afternoon to investigate the validity of the threat.

No further details about its nature were immediately released.

Parents can pick up their children at Faith Presbyterian Church at 11373 E. Alameda Ave., Aurora police said.

Last year, there were 875 students enrolled at the Lotus School for Excellence.
