DENVER (AP) - Investigators say the recently discovered remains of a Denver woman who disappeared nearly three years ago do not provide enou
gh evidence to determine how she died.
Authorities said Friday that DNA from two bones matched that of 38-year-old Amy Ahonen (ah-HOHN'-en), who was last seen at her home in July 2011 before she left for a hike near Clear Creek. A passerby in November found a portion of a leg bone along the creek. Jefferson County coroner's investigator Stacy Salmon said her office sent the fragment to a Texas laboratory, which confirmed this week that it belonged to Ahonen.
Investigators also linked another bone discovered in Adams County to Ahonen.
Her roommate reported Ahonen missing. Denver Police at the time of her disappearance said they did not suspect foul play.
