Colorado hospital system Centura Health breaking up

Centura Health's 20 hospitals in Colorado and Kansas will be managed by two different companies – CommonSpirit Health and AdventHealth.

DENVER — One of Colorado's largest hospital systems is breaking apart. Centura Health announced that its 20 hospitals will split up and be managed by two different management companies.

CommonSpirit Health and AdventHealth have partnered to provide health care needs to communities around Colorado and Kansas under the name Centura Health for 27 years. Both companies said in a news release they have grown and evolved over the years. They said the partnership "accomplished so much; yet, it has reached its natural maturity."

The release says they agreed that they can "best serve their communities and health care ministries without a partnership - with each organization directly managing their respective care sites which comprise Centura Health."

The management companies said there will be no disruption to patient care.

AdventHealth will manage five hospitals:

  • Avista Adventist Hospital in Louisville
  • Castle Rock Adventist Hospital in Castle Rock
  • Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton
  • Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker
  • Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver

CommonSpirit Health will manage 15 hospitals:

  • Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas
  • Longmont United Hospital in Longmont
  • OrthoColorado Hospital in Lakewood
  • Mercy Hospital in Durango
  • Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs
  • St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood
  • St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster
  • St. Anthony Summit Hospital in Frisco
  • St. Catherine Hospital in Dodge City, Kansas
  • St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas
  • St. Elizabeth Hospital in Fort Morgan
  • St. Mary-Corwin Hospital in Pueblo
  • St. Francis Hospital in Colorado Springs
  • St. Francis Hospital – Interquest in Colorado Springs (opening summer 2023)
  • St. Thomas More Hospital in Cañon City

Centura Health said it will continue in its management role of the hospitals, physician clinics and other care sites throughout the transition.
