Colorado firefighters to help with Hurricane Florence

A team of firefighters who specialize in search and rescue operations is on the way to North Carolina to help out with the response to Hurricane Florence.

KUSA — A specialized team of firefighters from across Colorado left our state Tuesday morning and are on their way to Raleigh, North Carolina ahead of Hurricane Florence.

The storm has prompted mandatory evacuations and could potentially be a Category 5 Hurricane by the time it makes landfall later this week.

Members of Colorado Task Force 1 left for North Carolina Tuesday morning. They'll be helping with search and rescue efforts related to Hurricane Florence.

Nearly four dozen members of Colorado Task Force 1 packed up several big trucks with equipment and supplies, according to a Tweet from West Metro Fire Rescue. Team members are from agencies all over the state. Their specialty is search and rescue operations.

They're taking things like rescue boats, generators, and medical supplies.
