Winner revealed of $11.5 million Colorado Lotto+ jackpot

The Aurora man won the February jackpot that was the largest for the Colorado Lottery game in more than a year.

DENVER — The Colorado Lottery on Wednesday revealed who won $11.5 million in a Lotto+ drawing in February that was the game's largest jackpot in more than a year.

The winner was Mohamed Y., of Aurora, who got "the surprise of his life" when went to the lottery claims center and found out he had won the big prize in the Feb. 15 Lotto+. Colorado Lottery didn't reveal the winner's last name.

Mohamed chose the lump-sum option worth $5,777,552. The Colorado Lottery released a photo of his winning ticket with the numbers 10-15-24-29-35-40.

According to Colorado Lottery, Mohamed bought the ticket on Valentine's Day at the King Soopers at 19711 E. Smoky Hill Road in Centennial.

A clerk at the store later told him he had won at least $500. He didn't know he'd won the jackpot until he went to the claims center to get his prize.

"You guys made me happy, so I'm going to make others happy," Mohamed said when he found out he had won, according to Colorado Lottery.

He said he plans to purchase supplies for a school in the area, and he also called his wife and told her that he was taking her shopping, the lottery said.

Before Mohamed's win, the Lotto+ jackpot had been growing for several months. The last winner before Wednesday night was on Aug. 17, 2022, when the prize was $2,451,970.
