CU Denver wants dorms on Auraria campus

CU's Board of Regents approved $68 million to build new student housing on the Auraria campus -- traditionally a commuter campus.

DENVER — The University of Colorado  Denver could be getting its first student dorms on the Auraria campus.

CU's Board of Regents approved $68 million to build new student housing on the Auraria campus -- traditionally a commuter campus.

The new dorms would be at 11th and Larimer streets.

Developers say it will be home to 500 students. Most of CU Denver's students commute or live nearby.

The school hopes the new dorms would boost enrollment and recruitment.

The project, the school said, would be finished in the fall of 2021.
