As the population swells in the Denver metro, so does the demand for neighborhood grocery stores.
And that means fierce competition for consumers' wallets.
Chain Store Guide has released its annual market-share breakdown of 14 grocery store chains in the "core-based statistical area" around Denver, defined as including the following counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Gilpin, Jefferson and Park.
The rankings are almost identical to last year's, with one big exception: SuperTarget and Target PFresh move up two spots and five percentage points compared to 2018 data.
