A man received the recognition he deserves Wednesday for saving a woman who tried to jump off a building in Downtown Denver in April.
Denver Police and the Daniels Fund awarded Max Bignell the Bill Daniels Neighborhood award in a ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
At the ceremony, Bignell was honored for trying to talk the woman off a ledge before officers got there.
When officers did arrive, the woman got nervous and tried to jump. Bignell grabbed her.
"She jumped off the ledge and he reacted quickly and bravely and reached out and grabbed the woman by the arm and waist, then maintained control of the jumper as he pulled her to safety," commander Ron Saunier explained.
Bignell also received a $500 check from the Daniels Fund for his heroism.
