Imagine parenting a child with a life threatening health issue.

Then, imagine living hours from medical care and specialists.

Aviation non-profit, Angel Flight West is solving this exact problem by connecting pilots with their own aircraft and a desire to help, with families who are in need of a way to safely make it to a hospital.

Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs.

The network of over fourteen hundred pilots throughout the thirteen western states donate their aircraft, piloting skills, and all flying costs to help families in need, enabling them to receive vital treatment that might otherwise be inaccessible because of financial, medical, or geographic limitations.

The Clair family lives in Durango, CO and needs to get their son Beckett to Children's Hospital in Denver for this treatments and therapy.

"I'm just so humbled by their generosity," Beckett's mom, Sara, said.

When she first heard of Angel Flight West, she was hesitant to apply, wondering if other's needs were greater than her own. Now, she encourages all families who are curious about what Angel Flight can provide to apply for flights.

By visiting http://www.angelflightwest.org/ you can apply for an Angel Flight, volunteer as a pilot, and make donations to the non-profit.

The Endeavor Awards will be held in Los Angeles on May 6, 2017, which is the groups largest fundraising event.

Captain Sully Sullenberger will speak at the gala held at the California Science Center, underneath the Endeavor Shuttle.
