Frisco's post office renamed after Patrick Mahany, fallen Flight for Life pilot

A dedication ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. June 6 at the Summit County Senior Center.

FRISCO, Colo. — A dedication ceremony will be held Thursday to rename Frisco's post office in honor of Patrick Mahany, a Flight for Life pilot who died in a crash in Frisco in 2015.

The post office, located at 35 West Main St., will be named the "Patrick E. Mahany Jr. Post Office Building," according to the U.S. Postal Service.

Expected to speak at the ceremony are U.S. Congressman Joe Neguse, Frisco Mayor Gary Wilkinson, Peter Werlin, RN with Flight for Life, Patrick Mahany's wife Karen Mahany and Kevin Romero, United States Postal Service district manager for Colorado and Wyoming.

Patrick Mahany and his Flight for Life crew crashed into a parking lot near St. Anthony's Medical Center just seconds after takeoff on July 3, 2015.

Patrick Mahany was a 27-year veteran pilot for Flight for Life. He served his country as an Army pilot in Vietnam from April 1970 to April 1971, logging 1,200 combat hours while earning a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
