Police are trying to find out who rammed a stolen Jeep into a gun store early Wednesday morning and made off with multiple firearms.

This wasn’t the first time the Triple J Armory off County Line Road has been targeted by thieves. On June 22, 2016, someone drove a truck through the front of the store, and three suspects took about 30 guns from an unsecured display.

Littleton Police Cmr. Trent Cooper says officers first responded to the latest burglary alarm at around 2 a.m. Wednesday. A black Jeep investigators later learned had been stolen out of Aurora had driven into the front of the store, allowing the thieves to get inside.

Store employees are currently working to determine how many firearms were stolen. Police are still reviewing security footage, but right now, Cooper says they believe four people went inside the store. A description of those suspects was not available.

He says Triple J has “good security measures” that were ramped up after the previous incident, but these were not impervious to a vehicle driving through.

“Clearly some planning went into the crime,” Cooper said during a news conference Wednesday afternoon. “They have very good security in this store – better than most – so I don’t know why this store has attracted the interest from these people.”

One of the guns taken from Triple J during last year’s burglary was used by a teen boy to shoot another boy in Edgewater. He had three active warrants – and allegedly told police he was a gang member.

Cooper says not all of the guns taken in previous burglaries have been recovered. In some cases, the burglars may be keeping them for themselves, selling them, trading them for drugs or moving them out of the country.

“It’s still a mystery about how they’re being used, where they are,” Cooper said.

He asked the public to be vigilant in wake of the latest crime, and to call police if they see suspicious activity.

Littleton Police are investigating Wednesday's burglary with the ATF.
