Juvenile killed after high-speed rollover crash in Westminster

One boy under the age of 18 was killed, and another was taken to the hospital, police said.

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A juvenile male was killed after a high-speed rollover crash early Thursday morning, said Westminster Police Department spokeswoman Cheri Spottke.

At about 2:45 a.m., a car traveling westbound on 92nd Avenue hit a curb and rolled near Wadsworth Boulevard.

One juvenile was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, Spottke said. Another juvenile inside the vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Video taken by SKY9 from about 7 a.m. showed a heavily damaged vehicle being towed away from the scene. Roads in the area were closed for a short time, but have since reopened.

Police suspect that speed and drugs may have been a factor in the crash, according to Spottke. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

The identity of the deceased juvenile will be released by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office in the coming days.
