Adams County Commissioners lift temporary ban on oil, gas developments

Commissioners voted on Oct. 30 to freeze oil and gas development projects for a month, "or until further action of the Board."

ADAMS COUNTY — Adams County Commissioners have voted to lift a temporary moratorium on oil and gas development in unincorporated Adams County.

The commission approved the motion with a 3-1 vote on Tuesday morning, exactly two weeks after they opted to put a freeze new oil and gas projects.

Commissioners added that original resolution to their agenda days before Colorado voted on Proposition 112, which failed to pass, but would have required new oil and gas development projects, including fracking, to be a minimum distance of 2,500 feet from occupied buildings and other areas designated as vulnerable.

The board had voted 4-1 in favor of immediately stopping oil and gas development projects until November 30, "or until further action of the Board.”
