DENVER — The current governor of Colorado and a former governor of California (during a break from being a movie star) joined forces at a Denver event Saturday afternoon to promote a pair of measures that aim to reform the way the state draws its electoral boundaries.

Gov. John Hickenlooper and Arnold Schwarzenegger headlined a rally at the University of Denver to “terminate gerrymandering,” as the Hollywood action icon put it, recalling his best-known movie part.

Hickenlooper used the occasion to trot out several Schwarzenegger-associated movie references on Twitter:

“It’s Judgement Day for redistricting & @Schwarzenegger & I think it’s time for us to do a Total Recall on gerrymandering… But seriously, vote yes on Y&Z in Nov!”

Schwarzenegger got into the spirit as well on his own Twitter account:

“Thank you, Colorado and @hickforco for such a warm welcome. Vote Yes on Y and Z and let’s #terminategerrymandering!”

Joey Bunch of Colorado Politics first reported on Oct. 11 that Schwarzenegger would be coming to Colorado to campaign for the measures after having earlier expressed his support in an online video.
